March: Thoughts from Huw

Dear Friends

Ash Wednesday is on the 6th March as we begin the season of Lent. This is a season of preparation, self–reflection and repentance when we seek to literally ‘turn around’ and realign our lives and focus toward God. It is a time to give up things as well as take things on as we seek to live and love as more faithful disciples of Jesus Christ.

At Sheriff Hill on Tuesday afternoons during Lent we will study a course produced by the Methodist Church called ‘Talking of God Together’. The sessions include; A present God, A listening God, A caring God, A speaking God and Jesus as our teacher and model. This begins on Tuesday 12th March at 1.30pm. All are welcome.

At Wesley we will have another meeting to discuss our plans for Church growth on Tuesday 5th March at 7.3Opm. This is an opportunity to discuss creative ideas for us to deepen our own spiritual journeys and for reaching out into the community to share the message of God’s love, hope and transformation. All are welcome.

May we all be challenged by the words of Marty Haugen;

‘Let us build a house where love can dwell and all can safely live, a place where saints and children tell how hearts learn to forgive. Built of hopes and dreams and visions, rock of faith and vault of grace; here the love of Christ shall end divisions: (Singing the Faith  409) All are welcome in this place’.

With good wishes
