February: Thoughts from Huw

Dear Friends,

I know it will be February when you read this but I would like to wish you a belated happy 2019 at Wesley and also thank you for your Christmas cards, gifts, and good wishes received at the manse over the festive period.

We did have some good events and services over Christmas and New year and I would like to thank the stewards and the many others who helped to make it such a special time.

They say `Variety is the spice of life` and it is true. With the addition of a few spices an ordinary meal can be turned into something of extraordinary aroma and taste.
Variety is welcome in my life experience also. I appreciate the diversity of people and cultures in our world. If all people were the same as I am, I might find life mundane.

Thank God there is variety in the world. Each of God`s creatures is uniquely individual, including you and me. Each snowflake has a different pattern, each animal has its own distinct characteristics and each person has her or his unique personality.

Learning about different viewpoints or about other cultures is good for me and I hope good for you., for another person`s perspective may offer possibilities that we have not considered. At this early stage of 2019 in the life and mission of the church let us all value and appreciate the variety of people and cultures in life.

With good wishes

Huw
