During lockdown we have had to work very differently as church. We have been introduced to new ways of working digitally- including business meetings, worship, training, prayer, studies, children’s work. Now I know this isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but for some they want this to continue in some way.

Pentecost is the birthday of the Church. How simply it all began. The Church was born in frailty and weakness. It had no property, no buildings, no money. Its only resource was people, and there weren't many of those.

Whether we mix things up, get things wrong, put ourselves in the wrong places, there is always a way back to God. God will never leave us or forsake us.

There are stories and recollections of how God works in our lives and how we come to the conclusion that Christ is indeed our own personal saviour, in essence our friend. Perhaps no flashing lights no standing ovations but perhaps a ripple of applause along the way. Let no one ever take your story away from you for your story is special because it is your story.

The purpose of any set of instructions is to tell us how to put something together or how something works. They can seem complicated and, sometimes, we think we can manage without them but, like Bryn, we can be left feeling confused, lost, and annoyed if things do not work out as we think they ought.

This Sunday’s theme for worship is based on Jesus’ statement from St John’s gospel. `I am the Good Shepherd”.

Those who care about others pick up a lot of wounds as they go through life. Perhaps there are no great wounds but only a multiplicity of little ones- scratches, wrinkles and welts. Yet these are only the visible wounds.

Just like last year this Holy Week is going to be very different, previously churches across the circuit would be planning all manner of services and different occasions.

One year ago today, it was my turn to write a letter to you all for the first time, on behalf of the Bede Circuit staff. Today, one year on from the beginning of the first lockdown has been called a Day of Reflection.
